Getting Started

Icoustic is a personal music system for files you already own — MP3, FLAC, and M4A. There is no streaming catalog and no account required to listen. Point each device at its own folders and Icoustic shows them together — one library you can play to any device.

What you need

  • A Mac (macOS 15+), or an iPad or iPhone on iPadOS / iOS 26.5 or later
  • A folder of DRM-free audio files on the device or in iCloud Drive

Install

Download Icoustic from the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

First launch

  1. Open Icoustic. A short setup sheet appears — pick a music folder and how added music is handled. Every device needs one folder, even if it will mostly browse another device: that’s where pinned playlists are saved. On iPhone and iPad, one tap uses On My iPhone → Icoustic → Music. See Adding a Library Folder.
  2. Wait for the first scan — large libraries take a few minutes; later rescans are much faster.
  3. Browse Albums or Songs, and press play. Artists and Genres are off until you turn them on in Settings → Display.

The App Store listing is a free download. After you add a folder and start playback, a Plans sheet may appear — Lifetime, or Monthly with a 7-day trial. A purchase you made when Icoustic was a paid download still unlocks the app. Restore and Redeem Code are under Settings → Plan. While locked, you can browse; play, queue, pin, send to another device, and MCP wait until you unlock.

More than one device?

Open Icoustic on a second device on the same Wi‑Fi; it appears in the sidebar. Approve it there once (each side approves the other) and you can browse its shared folders, send music to it, or drive it from your pocket. See Devices & Networks.
