Icoustic is built for ownership.

On your device

Your library index — tracks, albums, playlists, ratings, play counts — lives on the library device. Listening does not require an Icoustic account.

In your house

Sharing happens directly, over your own network. Devices on the same Wi‑Fi discover each other with Bonjour. Each device holds its own key. A connection is used only after both devices approve it — or Auto-join is on for that network. Only folders you mark Shared are browsable. Nothing goes through a server.

On a network that looks like a home network, sharing stays on unless you turn it off. Switch it off, or reject devices, on Wi‑Fi you don’t control.

MCP on Mac

Optional MCP lets an AI client query your local index over loopback (127.0.0.1). Icoustic does not upload your collection. Your AI client may still send tool results to the model you chose — prefer a local model if you want titles and paths to stay entirely on-device.

What we don’t do

• No analytics SDK
• No advertising identifiers
• No “sign in to play”
• No uploading your music catalog for recommendations

No cloud in the middle

Icoustic has no cloud sync layer. Sharing between devices happens over your own network. Playlists you create stay on the device that made them. Ratings and play counts for a shared library belong to that library’s device — peers send updates over the LAN; ratings also write into file tags. Music files stay in the folders you choose — on device or in your own iCloud Drive.
