What’s new

Icoustic 1.4 (current 1.4.2) on iPad, Mac, and iPhone:

• Plans — free download; unlock with Lifetime or Monthly (7-day trial) after you add a folder and start playback. A pre-1.4 paid download stays unlocked. Restore and Redeem Code live under Settings → Plan. While locked, browse still works; play, queue, pin, send, and MCP wait.
• Setup sheet — first launch walks through a library folder and Adding Music rules. Skip it on a device that only browses another library; run it again from the empty library screen or Run Setup Again….
• Adding Music — Copy new songs into, Dropped folders, Organize into Artist/Album folders, and on Mac Move originals to Trash after copying. Import Files… copies into a folder you already added.
• Organize Files… (Mac) — preview-and-move songs already in the library into Artist/Album folders. Filenames stay the same.
• Library index backup (Mac) — Save Library Index… / Restore Library Index… for playlists, play counts, sources, and the tag mirror.
• Playback — Settings → Playback: Gapless (default on) or Crossfade.
• Tags — Label, Catalog Number, Media, and Release Type write back with the rest of the file.
• Export Playlist (Mac) — zip of the audio plus an m3u.
• Settings hub on iPhone and iPad — Library, Display, Playback, Connect, Plan, Support, About.

Icoustic 1.5.0 on iPad, Mac, and iPhone:

• Favorites — Settings → Display → Rating System can show one favorite star instead of five. A song rated 4 or 5 stars shows as a favorite. Marking a favorite saves it as 4 stars. The file still stores a 0–5 rating.
• Pinned playlists — a pin is saved in your library folder, under Playlists → playlist name. It plays offline, and other Icoustic devices on your network can play those copies like any other folder. A song pinned in two playlists is stored once. Pins from 1.4 move over on their own. Renaming a playlist renames its folder. Unpinning removes that folder.
• A library folder is required on every device, including one that only browses another library. On iPhone and iPad, setup offers On My iPhone → Icoustic → Music in one tap. Setup stays up until a folder is chosen, and comes back if you remove the last one.
• Undo — queue and playlist edits can be undone, including edits you send to another device. On Mac, Edit → Undo. On iPhone, shake. On iPad, the undo and redo buttons. Removing several songs is one undo.
• iPhone sorting — Albums sort by artist, album, year, number of songs, date added, or last played. Songs can sort by last played, and by device when you are viewing one library. Date added, newest first, is the starting order.
• Playback — opening search, or picking an audio route, no longer crackles the song. If the system stops the audio engine, playback resumes where it actually was.
• Plans — a licensed device no longer flashes the paywall while StoreKit is still answering.
• Devices — a Mac is shown as a Mac. Apple silicon model names no longer appear as an iMac, and a saved name that called a Mac an iPad or iPhone is corrected once.

Icoustic 1.4.4 on iPad, Mac, and iPhone:

• iPad portrait — song columns keep their width and the table scrolls sideways, so Title no longer collapses or draws twice. The info panel stays closed until you select a song. In portrait it overlays the list instead of squeezing it under the sidebar.
• Now Playing — on iPhone and iPad, swipe Remove on the song that is playing skips to the next one. Swipe the other way to send a song, including the one playing, to another room without changing where you are listening.
• Delete on Mac — Delete removes the selected songs from a playlist or from Up Next. Typing in search or the info panel still gets the key.
• Playlist selection — rows select properly again, including the first song.
• Album drag — drag an album onto Live Queue or a playlist. If the same album also exists on another device, the drop stays with the library you dragged from.
• Song editor — on iPhone, the sheet shows the album cover, and you can drop a new image on it.
• Pinned playlists — a pin appears in Files under Icoustic → Pinned Playlists. Renaming the playlist renames that folder.
• Export Playlist (Mac) — the zip includes the album cover.
• Devices — the sidebar lists devices on this network. Ones you have seen before stay in Settings → Connect, marked when they are away. Your devices are grouped together, with a line between people. Refresh clears a rejection once that device has left. Approving a device is more reliable when the first connection goes quiet.
• Selection — the mint full-row highlight is gone. Selection is the capsule again.

Icoustic 1.0 on iPad, Mac, and iPhone:

• One library — point each device at its own folders of MP3, FLAC, and M4A. Music from every shared device appears together in Songs and Albums (copies on two machines appear twice). Artists and Genres stay off until you enable them.
• Play from any device to any device — open Icoustic on the same Wi‑Fi and every Mac, iPad, and iPhone appears in the sidebar. Pick a destination from a device row or the play-bar Playing on… chip; drag tracks onto a row to queue them there. Local playback keeps going when you switch destinations.
• Pins — pin a playlist from a shared library and its tracks are on this device, so it plays with the source off. A pin freezes membership at pin time.
• MCP — on Mac, connect Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT Desktop to the local library. It proposes; you review every change in MCP Actions.
• Spaces removed — devices on the same network approve each other. No codes, no accounts, no QR. Sharing is per folder. Rejected devices sit under Settings → Connect.
• Files as truth — tag edits and ratings write back via TagLib; play counts live in the owning library’s index (50% of the track or 4 minutes, whichever comes first). Peers send ratings, plays, and tag edits over the LAN.
