Editing

You can edit a single track or apply album-level changes. The UI updates immediately; tag write-back happens through TagLib for ID3 (MP3), Vorbis comments (FLAC), and MP4 atoms (M4A).

Artwork

Album art comes from embedded tags or a cover.jpg / folder.jpg / front.png beside the files — and you can set it yourself by dropping an image onto an album.

Why this matters

Edits aren’t trapped in a proprietary database. If you open the same files in another player later, your ratings and corrected tags go with them.

Editing or rating a track from another device’s library applies on the device that owns it — same tag write-back. The info panel shows the rating above the title. Play counts are index-only on that library; see Playlists & Ratings.

On Mac, an AI connected via MCP can propose tag edits as well — you still review and approve every change in the app before anything is written.

Rescans

Icoustic recognizes its own writes so rescans stay clean — you won’t get phantom “changed” tracks every time you rate a song.
